Thanks to all who organized this work: Lynn Boyden, Chris Chandler, Matthew Fetchko, and Eric Reiss.
It was a blast, a great way to spend an afternoon, and highly applicable to "real-life". I agree with Dick Hill - this needs to be offered every year. It was a great way to get thinking about the subject and meet some new colleagues.
For those who did not participate, it was a practical design session in which we divided into groups and designed a high-level "pitch" to a group of "executives" on a product that our group designed to meet their requirements. Not scary, just a lot of fun.
Posted by laurie.gray at February 29, 2004 12:29 AMi agree! it was a great way to meet people, plus i really appreciate the natty gray suits worn by "the clients" - as well as their fake business cards. conceptual art in action.
Posted by: joy at February 29, 2004 01:06 AMI agree - it was a lot of fun and I was so impressed by the quality of everyone's input. It was a bit ironic for me that several years ago the concept of the screen fridge came up in the context of a project and I laughed it off at the time. Of course I had to take it seriously today - the CEO was in the room after all.
A quick question - I heard the awards are supposed to be at 8:25, but presentations will be going on at that time. Is 8:25 still the plan? I'm dying to know who won!

Posted by: Chris Farnum at February 29, 2004 05:08 AMOn behalf on Lynn, Chris, Eric and myself, thanks to everyone who participated. We knew we were taking a chance with something different, and let me tell you, the details of commericial grade screw compressors are never going to leave my memory. But it was all worth it, I was amazed, impressed, and thrilled by the work the groups did. To quote Matt Matheson "phenomenal!"
