Program Summary
Pre-conference workshops
The IA Summit continued the tradition of fantastic pre-conference workshops. Our pre-conference workshops represent the practical side of the conference - all are detailed and practical, and provide skills you can use on your projects.
We had 18 pre-conference workshops over two days - some run for a half-day, some for the full day.
Main conference sessions
The main conference runs on Saturday 24, Sunday 25 & Monday 26 March.
This year we had a very strong program (well, every year we have a very strong program) with:
- An opening keynote from Joshua Prince-Ramus
- A closing plenary from Rashmi Sinha
- 45 presentations
- 6 panels
Conference hours were:
- Friday 23 March: Welcome reception
- Saturday 24 March: Conference 8.30-5.30; Posters & reception 5.30-7.30
- Sunday 25 March: Conference 9.00-5.45
- Monday 26 March: Conference 8.30-4.45
For more details, read the main conference program.
BarCamp-like flex-track
This year, the IA Summit featured a highly unpredictable track: We reserved a room for re-runs of popular sessions, birds-of-a-feather sessions, impromptu get-togethers and other kinds of fringe activities. Most or all of these sessions were not be scheduled in advance; instead the slots were reserved by participants using sign-up sheets at the start of each day.
Social program
We had a fantastic social program lined up:
- An opening reception on Friday evening, from 6.30pm
- A 'trading card' game sponsored by nForm
- A reception and poster evening on Saturday
- Newcomer's lunch tables on Saturday
- Plenty of breaks between sessions, and long lunches
- The IAI mentoring booth will return: get or give advice
We don't have an organised conference dinner. If you would like to organise a dinner group, please post a dinner announcement on the blog.
