Gretchen Anderson spent the first part of her career in design consulting for firms like frog, Cooper, and LUNAR working on a variety of products that have physical presence. From glucose meters, to high-tech ovens, to robots, Gretchen loves designing interfaces for hybrid environments. Currently she leads product design at Auris Surgical Robotics. Previously, as the VP of product and program for GreatSchools, she oversaw design, content development, product management, and engineering.
IA Summit 2016
Topic(s): communication and emerging tech
Designing products that have physical as well as virtual components requires new ways of thinking, prototyping and learning. From medical devices, to gaming systems, to autonomous cars, more and more interactions are inhabiting their own hardware eco-systems and environments.
In this session, you will learn ways to prototype, avoid common mistakes, and communicate design solutions for embedded user interfaces.
- Ways to prototype hard and soft controls
- Common mistakes to avoid
- How to test assumptions quickly
- How to communicate design solutions for embedded user interfaces to industrial designers and engineers
