Welcome to Chicago!
The Second City. The Third Coast. The City of Big Shoulders.
A place where millions of people work, live, and play. A place where midwestern values meet big city dreams. Churros, Italian beef, arepas, Maxwell Street polish, the Gym Shoe, cafeterias, hot dogs, and pizza. Chicago Blues. Architecture that stands the test of time. People that are resilient and proud. A city that defines its own destiny and respects its history. This is where we all come together.
The historic Hilton Chicago is the heart of this year’s conference. Located right on Michigan Avenue and convenient to multiple train and bus lines, it’s a beautiful, historic hotel we know you’re going to love. (And the Grand Ballroom is tremendous!)
720 S. Michigan Ave.
Chicago IL 60605 USA
Rooms are currently available March 20-26 at a special rate of US$179/night. This rate will expire on February 27, 2018. If you need rooms outside of that range, the rates will be $259/night for the extra days. When you book, the hotel will also charge a deposit that’s equal to the first night’s rate, including taxes.
Traveling to Chicago & Basics
Chicago is served by two major airports: Midway (MDW) and O’Hare (ORD). Each airport is connected to the city’s main train line, called the “L” or “El” (short for elevated). The Orange Line serves Midway and the Blue Line serves O’Hare. Train rides are roughly 40-60 minutes one way from either airport to the venue. For full information, including buying transit passes in advance, visit the Chicago Transit Authority.
Chicago is located in the US Central Time Zone.
Chicago in March will likely be cold. While the average high in March is 47°F (8°C), it’s the end of winter, so please plan to bring layers and dress accordingly. Snow, rain, and sleet are all within the realm of possibility for the outdoors.
And More to Come
We’re working on putting together more tips and tricks, including details on what’s nearby. In the interim, if you have particular questions please feel free to contact us. (PS: This is the Gym Shoe.)
